During recent years, water purifiers have become increasingly popular as people strive to live healthier lifestyles. Water purifiers can lead to improved health by removing impurities from water that can cause illness, such as heavy metals, fluoride and many other harmful TDS. In addition, many water purifiers can also remove chemicals from the water that can be detrimental to health, such as chlorine. Not only does it remove impurities and contaminants from your water, but it also provides you with clean and fresh-tasting water.

If you are looking to install the right type of purifier for your home, this article covers the types of water purifiers available in the market and how you can make the right choice.

1. Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Purifier

RO (Reverse Osmosis) water purifier uses pressured water through a semipermeable membrane. During this process, dissolved particles and contaminants are left behind, and water molecules pass through to the other side. The contaminants are then discharged through a separate outlet, known as a reject line.

The Reverse Osmosis Membrane is also the highest filtration process that provide best capability in removal of contaminants in water. This process is also used to generate NEWater. It is also the only filtration that is certified to remove arsenic, mercury and many others harmful TDS.

Therefore, the USA NSF ANSI 58 is the highest level of certification in terms of impurities removal which is awarded only to reverse osmosis filtration (0.0001 Micron).

Additionally, other filtration elements are used to improve the filtration process and extend the life of the RO membrane. At Coral Pure Natural, our RO water purifiers has RO Membranes in compliances to USA NSF ANSI 58. The NSF 58 is certified to remove contaminants such as harmful TDS, fluoride, heavy metals as well as bacteria and viruses. Additionally, our tankless water purifier systems have alkaline minerals filters to provide natural, organic alkaline minerals that are found in natural spring water. The remineralization process will take place after the water gets. Thoroughly purified by this NSF 58 compliance RO membrane.

2. UV Water Purifier

UV or Ultraviolet water purifiers help in purifying the water by exposing bacteria and viruses to ultraviolet light. With the help of their quick filtration process, these types of water purifiers help in killing the bacteria and virus. However, they cannot remove dissolved solids or chemicals from water. In addition, the UV process can only be effective when the it is shone continuosly for at least 10 to 15 sec.

A UV filter will remove bacteria and viruses but is not effective on dissolved impurities such as rust, pesticides, fluoride, arsenic, etc. If your water contains harmful chemicals, heavy metals, volatile organic compounds, or sediment, a UV water treatment system can’t be used to remove these contaminants. That’s because ultraviolet light is only effective in treating living organisms.

One disadvantage is that UV treatment can cause algae growth in the part of the tubes surrounding the lamps. This is the case if the lamps are not sufficiently shielded from the part of the light spectrum that is constituted by natural light. This is especially a problem with medium-pressure lamps, which emit a spectrum of light with higher content of natural light.

3. UF / Nano Water Purifier

UF or Ultrafiltration and Nano filtration uses hollow fibres of a membrane with pore size between 0.1 to 0.001 micron.. Made of a thin layer of material, this membrane is capable of separating water and other particles present in water. When water is fed through the UF / Nano membrane, suspended solids, bacteria and viruses get trapped in the UF / Nano membrane. Since UF / Nano are different from RO technology, it cannot block very minute particles, unlike a RO water purifier. Also it is unable to remove even 1% of TDS in water. As such, heavy metals, fluoride and many other toxic impurities are not filtered out. UF / Nano is commonly use in Korea and Japan that has higher quality water without fluoride and less heavy metals. These countries have higher amount of alkalinity (Minerals) and these filtration can retain the minerals from tap water.

How to Select the Best Water Purifier?

As there are a lot of different types of water purifiers out there, this can make it difficult to know which one is right for your home. However, there are a few factors you can keep in mind when selecting the best type of water dispenser for your needs.

1. Water Quality

The quality of water you are going to get from a water purifier is the most critical factor to consider when buying a water dispenser for your home. The purifier should have a filtration system that is capable of removing fluoride, heavy metals and TDS (Total Dissolved Solids). This could include Chlorine, Copper, Aluminium, Arsenic, Mercury and Sulphate. A NSF ANSI 58 certified filtration can fulfill this requirement.

What are the most TOXIC impurities in drinking Water?

Ans: Fluoride & Heavy metals.

Both are most difficult to remove. The majority of the Korea or Japan water purifier doesn’t fulfil the removal task.

USA NSF Ansi 53 CERTIFIED filter can remove some of the heavy metals, but cannot remove fluoride and TDS.

NSF 58 Filter can remove FLUORIDE AND HEAVY METALS completely including 98% of TDS and generate close to distill pure water.

***NSF 42 certified to remove chlorine and improve taste. It doesn’t remove heavy metals and fluoride.

Coral Pure’s Premium 9 series 4th filter is NSF 58 RO Menbrane, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th & 9th are remineralising filters to generate premium Natural Alkaline Hydrogen minerals water suitable for all age groups.

2. Contamination

There are many different types of water contaminants, and not all water purifiers are effective against all types of contaminants. It is important to know what type of contaminants are in your water supply and to choose a water purifier that is specifically designed to remove those contaminants. Otherwise, you may not be getting the full benefit of your water purifier.

3. Storage Quantity

When considering purchasing a water purifier, storage quantity is an important factor to keep in mind. Depending on your household size and your daily water usage, you will want to choose a unit that can store enough purified water to meet your daily drinking needs. With Coral Pure Premium 9 Series purifier, it can continously provide high quality drinking water.

4. Maintenance

When buying a water purifier, it is important to consider the maintenance that will be required to keep it functioning properly. Depending on the type of purifier you purchase, the amount of maintenance may vary. Before making your purchase, make sure that you are prepared to keep your purifier functioning properly. Coral Pure offers highest filtration capacity in the market delivering up to 10000 litres drinking water + 10000 litres of purified washing water for food preparation.
